Spring Events for the Family 

Welcome back to another Mariposa blog! 

With Summer break starting and the weather shifting (sort of, we live in the Pacific Northwest), so this time we wanted to introduce you all to some of the events happening around the Vancouver-Portland Area this spring. 


We will also include tips on how to prepare for going to these outdoor events!

OMSI

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is a great way to learn about different subjects while spending time with family.It contains three auditoriums, including a large-screen theater, planetarium, and exhibition halls with a variety of hands-on permanent exhibits focused on natural sciences, industry, and technology.

Open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM

Tips: Tickets for adults are $16 and $11 for youth. OMSI features different events throughout the year, so be sure to check out what events are happening before going!

Vancouver Farmers Market

 The farmers market is a great way to spend the mornings of the weekend by visiting the different shops in the farmers market. From organic foods to clothing and crafts, there is always something for everyone!

Tips: Be sure to check the weather before going. You may have to pay for parking depending on where you park. 

Open on Saturdays from 9 am - 3 pm and Sundays from 10 am -3 pm

 

Hamilton Mountain Hike

Hamilton Mountain Hike is a popular 7.5 miles long trail that has a feast of features for hikers, including waterfalls, cliffs, deep forests, and beautiful vistas. If you’re looking for a more active way to spend the day, this one's for you!

Tips: The difficulty of this hike is Moderate. Always be sure to check the weather before going and make sure you pack food and water before heading out there. The hike has an elevation gain of 21,000 feet.  The hike is crowded but not family-friendly. 

 

Portland Japanese Garden

611 SW Kingston Ave, Portland, OR 97205 (Google Maps)

Designed in 1963, the Japanese garden offers a beautiful experience that can’t be found anywhere else.

Tips: Be sure to check the weather before going. Adult tickets cost $21.95 for adults, $15.95 for youth, and $17.95 for students with ID.

The garden is open Wednesdays through Mondays from 10 am - 6 pm

 

2023 Portland Rose Festival

Tom McCall Waterfront Park (Google Maps)

Rose Festival’s waterfront activities all take place at Governor Tom McCall Waterfront Park, in downtown Portland. You can find carnival rides, fair foods, interactive exhibits, and constant entertainment. 

Tips: Tickets are $12.00 per person for one day with other options available.

Open May 26th through June 11th
